hey people! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
What an eventful year it has been in 2005. so much event, emotions, happening and lots more that made an impact on me to stay in my mind as maybe lessons to learn from or even things to not do anymore! yupps... all these made up year 2005!
shall start recaping all moments that me, the band, my class and everything had in this year!
January to start of school term.. not much of a thing.. had orientation concert and before that was to do things for the sec 1 as flyers etc which got the band 20 odd members to join in. was good enough then.
chinese new year celebrations and all.. performed and received countless red packets.. lightened everyones mood indeed!
then we had countless practices to prepare for the SYF year 2005 and maybe speech day. these two days were 14th and 15th respectively. but 14th april was indeed one day that we have been practicing... playing.... concentrating and focusing on! our aim was to maintain a silver and to do that we had countless band practices and a band camp and musical exchanges.. intensive training built us up not only technically but morally as well. we were ready to go up on stage aand perform to the judges our choice piece ( Gullivers Travels) and set piece ( Singapore Rhapsody). It was not easy neither was it totally impossible. hard work was put in by all sec 2 - 5 seniors and in the end when the results were announced, we clinched a silver and that made us happy!
after that, the next major event was the graduation concert. although this year was a combination of performing arts and in the school hall, we still practiced hard on out pieces... again, countless practices on holidays and a band camp and musical exchanges. we had to give it our all now to show the school how a silver medel band soungs like! the concert was a great success and every audience enjoyed what we played to them!
next,was our outdoor performance. it was another challenge for us as we had to play at two different venues in a day. that day was such a hectic day and we played at the event - bedok family day and at pasir ris park. it went well but the environment was not so good i would sae.
but we still showed a great repetoir thats not so serious and enjoyable to listen.
then we performed at national day and that also went well...
lastly ( or i may leave out some important things ), was out GENTING trip. it was not only a trip but a musical exchange with a competition behind it.. we had band camp, musical exchange, countless, really countless band practice for just two pieces, king across the water and asian selection. with the senior gone and no juniors joining us except 2, we had to work extra hard as our band has been minimized to only 38 people. this was such a challenge and we were wondering if we could or could not manage to still clinche a silver. but at genting, tho there were scoldings and hard practicing in the cold environment causing much tuning changes, we still managed to keep our minds concentrated at we got a silver! that was determination? luck? hard work? i suppose no matter wad it is.. all of us deserve a "well done"! then shopping and everything was to basically ENJOY!
there were a few band outings as in like peoples birthdays, shopping for thing etc. all was fun and made everyone happy. even the recent sentosa trip.. was really fun! everyone was wet and dirty but we still enjoyed ourselves. and also the christmas gift exchange.. was so fun :D
the next event and the first for year 2006 would be the sec 1 orientation again and the great news is that band is gonna have our OWN concert next year! that is great!
as for my class 2/2.. its the end for ur being trogether as we are being split,. but i believe we will still hang out together and we will all be as close as the past two years! chalets, class t shirts etc... all were formed in year 2005-2e2! wad a wonderful and great class i have been in and never regretted to noe anyone of my classmate whether good or bad! and i would NEVER forget my bestest palS~ influencer,goon-du-head! hahax
